Athletes need top calibre coaching in order to successfully
compete at the highest level. At the Canadian Athletics Coaching
Centre, excellence in athletics coaching education is achieved by
working with our partners and delivering:
• Seminars where world class experts share their research, coaching practices and techniques.
• Workshops and courses to enhance knowledge-sharing across the athletics coaching profession.
• Mentoring programs with top Canadian athletics coaches.
• Opportunities for practicum experience in developmental and high
performance athletics coaching education. This is offered to students
in conjunction with the University of Alberta’s Faculty of Physical
Education & Recreation.
• Participation in the National Coaching Certification Program.
The Centre will offer a variety of sessions that compliment existing
educational opportunities. These programs focus on developmental and
high performance athletics, with unique content delivered by world
renowned authorities. Eventually, a series of courses aimed at
developing well-rounded coaches will be in place. The course-based
learning will be enhanced with mentoring opportunities with top
developmental and high performance coaches.
The Canadian Athletics Coaching Centre believes that the best learning
environments are created when athletes and coaches are able to jointly
work in a functional environment. The Centre will strive to bring
together coaches and athletes encouraging them to return to their
communities and practice what they have learned.
