Advanced High Jump Training by Wolfgang Ritzdorf
German high jump coach Wolfgang Ritzdorf gives a detailed lecture on the biomechanics and neuromechanics of jumping technique. Topics include: Ground reaction forces of the takeoff, reactive strength in the jumps, the role of the stretch shortening cycle, muscle reflexes and preactivation,some important periodization concerns and a detailed biomechanical look at high jumping.
Classroom to Track – Javelin by Dan Pfaff
This unique series of videos offers athletics coaches a complete examination of proper mechanics and teaching strategies for each technical event in athletics. Each is composed of two parts: the first part is a full biomechanical video analysis by Coach Pfaff on a world class competitor. The second part is comprised of a videotaped training session of him working with an athlete in the same event discipline. This video focuses on javelin mechanics. Topics include: Runway work, position of the body throughout the withdrawal, efficient crossover technique, the importance of the impulse step, the action of the blocking leg and the correct sequencing of body movements through the throwing motion.
